Bowen Technique
Bowen TechniqueBowtech®, the original Bowen Technique, is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that is revolutionising health care world wide. Over the last 45 years, it has successfully treated thousands of people suffering from a variety of conditions.
Bowtech's® unique system amazes therapists of all disciplines. It produces rapid and lasting relief from pain and discomfort, and is safe to use on anyone from a newborn child to the aged. Orthodox and alternative practitioners alike are generous in their praise of this modality.
Bowtech® empowers the body to heal itself. The work consists of a series of gentle, precise moves on specific areas. It stimulates energy flow, which activates the body's own resources for healing. The work is non-invasive, and can be done through light clothing. Frequent and important pauses between moves gives the body time to respond and benefit from each move or series of moves.
The body is a complex unit, dependent upon the balance of all its aspects. This perspective is integral to the success of Bowtech®. One Bowtech® move on a body may address the entire system. Yet while each move is profoundly effective, the full benefit of the technique is gained through a complementary series of moves. At times only a limited number of these moves is required.

The technique is a model of simplicity - it produces maximum results with a minimum of intervention. We do not impose a healing mechanism on the body; we respect it as inherent in each individual. Benefits are not limited to the presenting physical symptom, but extend to the emotional, cognitive and spiritual levels of healing as well. The Bowen Technique is becoming universally recognized as transformational.
Mr Tom Bowen developed this comprehensive therapy in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. In 1974, he invited Mr Oswald Rentsch and his wife Elaine to study with him, asking the Rentsches to document his technique to create the initial study notes, charts and manuals.
Dedicated to preserving the technique and ensuring it was taught in its original form, the Rentsches founded the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia in 1987 naming it Bowtech®, the original Bowen Technique.
